RE: Teachers and Technology

In my classes, I can definitely feel that thre is a lack of understanding of technology from the majority of my teachers. It can significantly hinder class productivity and learning as well as cause frustration for many. A good solution that we were all talking about is if there were laptops or other portable computers that the students can have which is something they now do in a couple of our elementary schools. It has significant benefits because every classroom becomes its own computer lab as well as increasing the avaliability of information to the students. Also, we rarely use the textbooks in many classes which could very easily be eliminated by using computers and merely opening a pdf file or something that would allow students to have the book at their fingertips for the occasions when it is actually used and not have to carry around a bunch of huge books all day or in mot cases just have several of the class' textbooks rot away in their locker for a semester or two because the teacher rarely if ever has them utilized in class.

"And Vista home basic is fine for our budget." Why would you go Vista basic? That defeats the whole purpose of a HTPC considering you lose out on Media Center.

1. You won't be able to overclock any processor to 4.4ghz without a phase change system, liquid nitrogren, or dry ice. I would recommend a water cooling system for anything above 3.5ghz on any processor.

I do PC building on the side. I use all retail high end parts. I can build gaming computers 20% or more cheaper than any competitor. I charge for the cost of the retail parts plus shipping then 20 dollars an hour for assembly and OS installation.

"well, i think we should just take some "out-dated" computers and light them on fire with a combo. of napalm and fire crackers." Ha nice. Well I think we gotta build a sweet computer and try to overclock it to some goal amount. With all our combined knowledge, most goals will be plausible. I think this Wiki was a really good idea on Sikat's part and it's gonna help us keep in touch with each other a lot better.
